Emergency Department Reception & Administration Clerk

Join our Emergency Department team in Horsham and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient and customer service.

 

We are seeking a friendly, organised and customer-focused Reception and Administration Clerk to provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support within our busy Horsham Emergency Department. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with patients, visitors, clinical staff and external stakeholders. This position requires the successful applicant to be able to work a rotating 24/7 roster, inclusive of AM, PM and Night duty.

 

About the Role

As the first point of contact for many patients and visitors, you will provide professional reception and administrative support while ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all consumers accessing the Horsham Emergency Department.

Reporting to the Administration Team Leader, you will contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the Emergency department by managing reception activities, patient admissions, records management, data entry and clerical support functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Emergency Department and Main Hospital Reception - Horsham
  • Deliver exceptional reception and customer service to patients, visitors and staff
  • Answer and direct telephone enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Support patient flow and access processes in collaboration with clinical teams
  • Maintain accurate patient records and prepare medical files as required
  • Liaise effectively with internal departments and external service providers

 

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in customer service, reception, administration, or clerical roles, including managing enquiries and providing information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong computer literacy with excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks, competing priorities, and payment processing (cash, EFTPOS, and receipting) in a busy environment.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Previous healthcare or hospital experience is highly regarded, along with qualifications in Business Administration, Medical Terminology, or a related discipline.
